Description:

Administers nursing care within the scope of practice as set forth in the Ohio Revised Code under the direction of a registered nurse or other licensed professionals.
Administers oxygen, applies sterile dressings, inserts catheters, reinserts gastrostomy tubes, suctions, irrigates wounds, gives enemas, and collects specimens.
Performs dialysis treatments and operates hemodialysis equipment while monitoring patients.
Assists healthcare professionals with physical exams, treatments, and laboratory tests.
Provides assistance in emergencies by administering first-aid, performing cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, and restraining patients.
Administers controlled and non-controlled medications via oral, rectal, topical, or injectable forms, and provides medication instructions to patients.
Maintains medication accountability records and documents patient conditions, reactions, responses, and behaviors.
Prepares and maintains related reports and records, including unusual incident reports.
Provides general nursing, direct care, and programming assistance, including taking patient vital signs and assisting with personal grooming and daily living activities.
Administers topical ointments, eye, ear, and nose drops, and repositions patients as needed.
Responds to patient alarms, makes medical appointments, escorts patients, and assists with recreational activities.
Provides group activities according to the intervention stated in the treatment plan.
Provides work direction, orientation, and training to lower-level direct care staff in providing general unskilled nursing care.
Attends and participates in various meetings, including staff conferences, committees, and interdisciplinary team meetings.
Orders medication and medical supplies, cleans the nursing station and medication room/cart, and performs clerical tasks such as answering the phone and filing.
