The Registered Nurse plans, coordinates, and provides total nursing care for residents and supervises and guides clinical staff.
QualificationsEducation:
- Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing.
Licenses/Certification:
- Valid RN license in the state of employment.
- Valid CPR certification.
Experience:
- One year of nursing experience preferred.
- Lead team conferences to develop individualized nursing care plans.
- Assess and document residents’ conditions and nursing needs.
- Implements physician orders accurately and promptly.
- Assign nursing care to team members based on resident needs and staff qualifications.
- Supervise, direct, and evaluate LPNs, LVNs, and CNAs.
- Administer medications, start IVs, and perform treatments; document treatments per company and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in orientation and in-service training for personnel.
- Assist physicians with special tests and procedures within the scope of the Nursing Practice Act.
- Ensure economical use of supplies and maintain equipment safety.
- Report and record observations and reactions concerning residents.
- Coordinate nursing care when residents are scheduled for therapy or procedures by other departments.
- Interview applicants and recommend hires; participate in counseling, disciplinary action, and termination to the extent permitted by state law.
- Supervise the nursing unit, including scheduling and directing staff as permitted by state law.
- Perform other assigned tasks as needed.
- Skilled in directing and motivating a workforce.
- Works cooperatively as a team member.
- Communicates effectively with residents, families, and all organizational levels.
- React decisively and quickly in emergency situations.
- Applies training techniques for clinical staff.
- Maintains confidentiality.
