Overview
Spring Meadows A Villa Center is seeking a Nurse Supervisor RN to join their team. The Nurse Supervisor RN provides leadership and oversight to nursing staff during non‑business hours, ensuring appropriate staffing, workflow, and quality patient care. The position acts as the highest on‑site authority after‑hours, making timely decisions, resolving clinical challenges, and maintaining care standards. Responsibilities include direct nursing care, administrative tasks, coordination with other departments, and support for staff development.
Responsibilities- Provide oversight and leadership to all on‑duty nursing staff during non‑business hours. Ensure proper staffing levels, monitor workflow, and assist with prioritizing patient care tasks.
- Act as the highest‑ranking on‑site authority during after‑hours and weekends. Make timely decisions related to patient care, staffing, safety, and operations. Collaborate with other departments when needed and escalate issues appropriately.
- Offer clinical expertise and support in resolving patient care challenges. Assist with complex cases or difficult family situations.
- Handle call‑ins or last‑minute staffing changes, ensuring coverage and continuity of care.
- Make frequent rounds to note resident/patient conditions and ensure nursing personnel are following appropriate nursing standards.
- Give and receive the nursing report upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours.
- Ensure assigned work areas (e.g., nurse station, medication cart, medication room) and resident/patient care rooms are kept clean and sanitary.
- Ensure medication rooms and carts are locked according to regulations.
- Monitor supplies and order as needed.
- Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, and charting.
- Develop and participate in programs designed for in‑service education, on‑the‑job training, and orientation classes for newly assigned personnel.
- Maintain close coordination with all departments to ensure continuity and collaboration of services.
- Provide required resident assessments/observations and interventions, reviewing care plans to ensure appropriate care.
- Document all pertinent data as required by Medicare, Medicaid, company standards, and policies.
- Ensure that direct nursing care is provided by a licensed nurse, a certified nursing assistant, and/or a nurse aide trainee qualified to perform the procedure.
- Attend and participate in in‑service classes, performance improvement (“PI”) committees, continuing education in‑service programs and other meetings as assigned.
- All other duties, as assigned.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to multi‑task and remain calm under stress.
- Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work and delegate to others.
- Understanding and adherence to infection control standards, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to adapt to a flexible work schedule and occasional overnight travel.
- Demonstrated positive attitude toward working with short and long‑term care residents and the elderly.
- Basic computer knowledge and ability to learn company applications, including Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel), email, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.
- Nursing degree or diploma from an accredited college or university.
- Current license to practice in the state as a Registered Nurse.
- At least one year of supervisory experience preferred.
- Long‑term care and MDS experience preferred.
- Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, with or without mechanical devices.
- Limited exposure to environmental hazards. Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required.
