Summary

Provides general nursing care to patients in Outpatient Clinic/Ambulatory Setting by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Verifies patient allergies
  • Triages assessments within specified timeframe
  • Analyzes patient assessment data to formulate plan of care
  • Reassessment documentation includes changes in patient’s condition/response to treatment relevant to patient’s condition
  • Assesses educational needs, neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, geriatric patients
  • Assess/Re‑assess/documents patient’s comfort/pain
  • Assess patient according to restraint protocol
  • Assess nursing care administered by medical assistant/unit clerk
  • Assess abuse/neglect, neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric
  • Neurological assessment/Glasgow Trauma Scale
  • Prioritizes and documents patient problems based on assessed needs/problems
  • Performs care according to reassessment
  • Documents effectiveness of care/interventions
  • Communicates patient’s needs problems to other staff
  • Able to state action, usual dosage, indications and ADRs for all medications administered
  • Documents patient’s responses to medications
  • Verifies 5 rights of med administration
  • Verifies patient allergies
  • Documents start and stop times of intravenous piggybacks and intravenous push medications
  • Documents the administration/non‑administration of medication and the patient’s medical record
  • Collects thorough patient history and documents all information collected
  • Completes and documents all pain assessments
  • Educates patients on medication effects
  • Makes patients aware of community resources
