Job Summary
Summa Health System is recognized as one of the region’s top employers. We seek a RN‑PD, Emergency Department Per Diem Night Shift. This role provides nursing care to patients, families, and the community with a focus on attaining, maintaining, and restoring optimum health.
Per Diem Requirements- Work a minimum of 24 hours within any four‑week scheduling period.
- Inpatient, Behavioral Health, and Emergency Department staff must work at least 12 hours on a weekend, holiday, or hard‑to‑fill shift (New Year’s, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Super Bowl Sunday, President’s Day, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Halloween, day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve).
- Surgical Services staff must meet scheduling requirements set by the unit director/ACNO.
- BSN required; associate degree considered if BSN obtained within three (3) years of employment.
- Graduate of a professional nursing program accredited by CCNE or ACEN.
- Current RN license in Ohio.
- One (1) year recent experience in the area of practice.
- Additional prior experience and/or preparation may be required for specialty units.
- Full range of body motion; hand and finger dexterity; eye‑hand coordination.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Corrected vision and hearing within normal range.
- Work under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
- Exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other hazardous conditions common to clinical environments.
- Maintain Basic Life Support certification. Critical care, telemetry, PACU, and ED RNs must complete ACLS within six months and maintain certification. New hires in these units must obtain ACLS within six weeks.
- Effectively interact with diverse patients/customers, respecting their dignity and individuality.
- Heavy:
May exert 50‑100 pounds occasionally, 25‑50 pounds frequently, or 10‑20 pounds continuously to move objects.
