Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner

is seeking a Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner for a locum tenens assignment at an inpatient facility in Ohio. In this role, you will manage hospitalized patients with GI conditions, performing assessments, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and collaborating with gastroenterologists and the care team to develop and adjust treatment plans. Responsibilities include daily rounding, documentation in the EHR, patient and family education, and adherence to hospital protocols.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient gastroenterology-focused care, including assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning under physician collaboration
• Manage and monitor patients with GI conditions, perform routine follow-up, and adjust treatment based on clinical status
• Order and interpret labs, imaging, and diagnostic tests relevant to gastroenterology
• Document all patient encounters, histories, and care plans accurately in the EHR system
• Coordinate with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff to ensure safe, timely, and patient-centered care
• Educate patients and families on GI conditions, medications, and discharge instructions
• Participate in daily rounds, case discussions, and care conferences as needed
• Ensure adherence to hospital policies, clinical protocols, and regulatory requirements
• Support coverage needs flexibly during the locum tenens assignment, including potential weekends or call
• Contribute to a collaborative care environment focused on quality outcomes and patient safety
