Works under the supervision of the Office Manager, Office Supervisor, and/or Family Health Center Manager. The Medical Office LPN's primary job function is to provide assistance to the provider with patient exams and/or procedures. Collects vitals, chief complaints, pain assessment, and documents past medical history. Phones and/or e-prescribes prescriptions to pharmacies, makes referrals, operates medical equipment, and performs patient education. Performs other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent high school exam required.
• Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing required.
• Licensed to practice as an LPN (applicable to state) required.
• BLS required within 90 days of hire.
• One to three months experience preferred.

• Assist the provider with patient examinations, procedures, venipuncture, and other diagnostic testing.
• Collect and document patient vitals, chief complaints, pain assessment, past medical, family and social histories.
• Perform and maintain other LPN duties related to physician office operations.
• Conduct monthly inspections of all supplies and medications, assess expiration dates, and dispose of expired items per policy.
• Ensure that clinical supplies are properly stocked.
• Review charts for next day's appointments.
• Log and update medication lists for patients.
• Assist with answering phones, scheduling appointments, and scanning.
• May be asked to provide coverage in other areas of the Foundation offices.
• Manage the care of the patient in collaboration with other health care team members to meet the patient health care needs.
• Pre-clean, decontaminate and transport contaminated instruments according to policy.
• Cross train to perform Medical Office Assistant duties.
• Follow vaccine and medication management policy.
• Review and handle eRx requests with provider direction; handle failed and error electronic prescriptions.
• Contact insurance companies to obtain necessary authorizations/pre-certifications.
• Perform intermediate-level disinfection and/or high level disinfection per manufacturer instructions.
• Follow medical record documentation procedures as detailed in the MCF Documentation Assistant policy.
• Assist the provider in navigating the medical record.
• Present during the provider's performance of a clinical service and document everything said during the service.
• Conduct daily check‑off for AED.
• Conduct weekly check‑off on equipment per department policy.
• Conduct monthly check‑off for eye wash.
• Ensure patient care areas are cleaned after each patient visit per SOMC guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
