Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) specializing in psychiatric and mental health care to join our team. The APRN will provide direct psychiatric care, including assessments, diagnosis, medication management, and crisis intervention for patients. The role involves collaboration with medical staff, participation in treatment planning, and ensuring integrated care for patients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct psychiatric/mental health care in person or via videoconferencing at designated institutions.
• Conduct mental health and psychopharmacological assessments.
• Formulate mental health diagnoses and provide psychotropic medication management in line with the formulary.
• Perform mental health evaluations to determine the necessity of psychotropic medication.
• Prescribe and manage medications as needed.
• Order, interpret, and analyze laboratory tests and findings.
• Collaborate with medical services staff to ensure integrated patient care.
• Document all clinical encounters and medication management appointments in the health record as per ODRC policy and protocols.
• Participate in treatment planning and team meetings related to assigned patients.
• Provide clinical supervision and consultation for registered nurses and other mental health staff on psychotropic medication management and other clinical issues.
• Receive regular clinical supervision from a collaborating physician.
• Engage in Continuous Quality Improvement activities.
• Maintain clinical competency through ongoing education and training.

Qualifications:

• Required Education: Master’s or Doctoral degree in nursing with a focus on psychiatric/mental health.
• Licensure: Active and unrestricted APRN license with prescriptive authority.
• Certifications: Board-certified as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
• Experience: Previous experience in psychiatric/mental health nursing, preferably in a correctional or institutional setting.
• Skills: Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and medication management skills; ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team; excellent documentation and communication skills.
