Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
Alto Staffing is seeking an experienced Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to provide on-site psychiatric and mental health services to an adult male population in a correctional healthcare setting in Ohio.
This is a great opportunity for a PMHNP seeking a consistent weekday, daytime schedule with no nights, weekends, or holidays. The position generally offers 20–30 hours per week, with some flexibility based on facility needs. Core hours typically fall between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, psychopharmacology, medication management, crisis intervention, and collaborative patient care. Experience working with complex or high-acuity behavioral health populations is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct psychiatric and mental health care to patients in a correctional healthcare setting, on-site or through videoconferencing when appropriate.
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric and mental health evaluations and establish appropriate diagnoses.
- Perform psychopharmacological assessments and determine appropriate treatment and medication needs.
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications in accordance with applicable regulations, clinical standards, and formulary requirements.
- Provide ongoing medication management and monitor patient response, effectiveness, and potential adverse effects.
- Evaluate and provide appropriate care for patients experiencing psychiatric or mental health crises.
- Order, review, and interpret laboratory tests and results related to psychiatric treatment and medication management.
- Develop and participate in individual treatment plans and treatment team meetings.
- Collaborate with medical, nursing, mental health, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated patient care.
- Provide clinical consultation and guidance to registered nurses and mental health staff regarding psychotropic medications and related clinical concerns.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and thorough documentation of clinical encounters and medication management appointments in the electronic health record.
- Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.
- Maintain clinical competency and comply with applicable healthcare standards, facility policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Work collaboratively with the supervising/collaborating physician and interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Required Qualifications
- Current, active Ohio Nurse Practitioner/APRN license.
- Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)certification/credentials.
- Current Board Certification appropriate to the assignment.
- Current BLS/CPR certification at the healthcare-professional level.
- DEA registration, as required for the assignment.
- Demonstrated experience providing psychiatric assessments, diagnosis, and psychotropic medication management.
- Strong clinical documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage complex behavioral health needs.
