Lifeguard – Seasonal (Non‑Exempt)

Rate: $18.00

Pay Grade: SEA | Starting salary based on prior experience and education.

Location: Fairport Harbor Lakefront Park, Fairport Harbor, OH 44077

Under the direction of the Outdoor Education Manager, the Lifeguard is responsible for supervising the beach area at Fairport Harbor Lakefront Park.

• Assist the public and administer appropriate lifeguarding techniques and first aid when necessary.
• Support kayak rentals and maintain cleanliness of the beach area, buildings, and rescue equipment.
• Assist with special events and programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

• Must be at least 16 years old
  .
• Lifeguarding Certification required.
• CPR for Professional Rescuer required.
• First Aid Certification required.
• Experience with boating preferred.

• Employment is contingent upon passing a lifeguarding skills test.
  • Lake Metroparks is offering a lifeguard certification class for $100.

• Basic knowledge of Lake County.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated enthusiasm for working with families and children of all ages.
• Ability to interact with others with tact, courtesy, and professionalism, especially when handling conflicts or challenges with the public, coworkers, or managers.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Variable work schedule up to 40 hours per week.
• May occasionally be required to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable under the Agency's liability policy.
• Background check required.
