Naturalist – Seasonal (Non-Exempt)

Rate: $13.00

Pay Grade: SEA |
Starting salary based on prior experience and education.

Location: Penitentiary Glen Reservation, Kirtland, OH 44094

Under the direction of the Interpretive Manager, the Seasonal Interpretive Naturalist plans and presents interpretive programs on natural and/or cultural history.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assists with department projects and special events.
• Presents interpretive programs to all ages.
• Addresses environmental issues and relates activities to the park district's role as land steward.
• Assists with front desk duties and other naturalist tasks as assigned.
• Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

• Must be at least 16 years old

• Must be pursuing a degree in natural sciences, environmental education, or a related field.

• Skilled in customer service.
• Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Comfortable speaking in public to both small and large groups.
• Demonstrated enthusiasm for working with families and children of all ages.
• Ability to spark interest and excitement about program topics and the park district among visitors and staff.
• Ability to interact with others with tact and courtesy and maintain professionalism when addressing conflicts or challenges with the public, coworkers, and managers.
• Basic knowledge of native Ohio wildlife and natural history.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Variable work schedule, up to 40 hours per week.
• May be required to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable under the Agency's liability policy.
• Background check required.
