The Garden For All is a registered nonprofit based in New Albany, Ohio. Our mission — Fight Hunger and Grow Community — is realized by growing high-quality organic produce and flowers for local food pantry partners across central Ohio. In 2026 we enter our seventh growing season on our 3.5-acre organic vegetable farm in Johnstown, OH with a wash/pack building, walk-in refrigeration, barn and tractor, four high tunnels, established beds and irrigation, and a delivery van.

Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced, hands‑on Organic Farm Operations Manager to lead day‑to‑day farm production and seasonal staff. This person will manage crop production, harvest, wash/pack, distribution logistics, volunteer sessions, and routine property and equipment maintenance, working closely with the Chief Grower.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee daily farm operations across vegetable, raspberry, and cut‑flower production; execute seasonal work plans with the Chief Grower.
- Supervise, train, and schedule seasonal crew (approx. 4 growers) and coordinate volunteer sessions (three mornings per week plus wash/pack volunteers).
- Prepare daily and weekly task plans; delegate work and ensure clear instructions, safe practices, and timely completion.
- Lead transplant/nursery management: seed starting, propagation, watering, hardening‑off.
- Manage harvest, wash/pack, storage, and delivery scheduling to food pantry partners; maintain QA during post‑harvest handling.
- Operate and maintain tractors, implements, walk‑behind equipment, irrigation systems, deer fence, and other farm infrastructure; coordinate routine maintenance.
- Implement organic pest, disease, and fertility management using best practices (cover crops, soil testing, amendments, compost systems, mulch regimes).
- Maintain accurate records of plantings, harvests, amendments, inputs, labor, and equipment — using Heirloom and Google Drive (Sheets/Docs).
- Provide timely feedback to staff, foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, and support volunteer engagement as part of our community mission.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in organic vegetable production, including demonstrated supervisory/management experience on a vegetable farm.
- Proven experience in high tunnel production and year‑round mixed vegetable systems.
- Competence operating tractors, front loaders, bush hogs, plastic mulch layers, cultivators, and BCS walk‑behind equipment.
- Knowledge of soil health practices, cover cropping, compost systems, and organic pest management.
- Comfortable leading volunteer groups; strong coaching, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Organized, self‑motivated, able to prioritize multiple tasks and remain composed under pressure.
- Proficient with Google Drive and willingness to learn/maintain Heirloom farm management software.
- Physically able to bend, lift up to 100 lbs, and perform outdoor labor in variable weather.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Core farm hours:
Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM EST.
Peak‑season overtime and occasional weekend work required.
Volunteer sessions:
Tue/Thu/Fri 9:00–11:30 AM (general support) and 1:00–2:30 PM (wash/pack).
Work primarily at Johnstown farm; some tasks/staff coordination at New Albany location as needed.
Wage, Benefits & Housing$25/hour; paid time off (details to be discussed); possible conversion to salary for 2027.
Seasonal on‑farm housing available April–October (20 ft camper; shower, AC/heat, water; porta‑john).
