Northwest Veterinary Hospital is a well-established mixed animal veterinary practice dedicated to providing exceptional care to both companion animals and livestock. We're looking for a dependable, compassionate Veterinary Assistant who enjoys variety, thrives in a fast-paced setting, and is excited to work with both small and large animal patients.
What You'll DoAs a Veterinary Assistant, you'll work alongside our veterinarians and technicians to provide outstanding patient care.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with examinations, treatments, surgeries, and medical procedures
- Safely handling and restraining both small and large animal patients
- Preparing patients and equipment for procedures
- Monitoring hospitalized patients and assisting with daily patient care
- Collecting and processing laboratory samples
- Cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining treatment areas and equipment
- Filling medications and maintaining inventory
- Assisting with client communication, scheduling, and patient education
- Supporting the team to ensure smooth daily operations

Preferred:
- Veterinary assistant experience or experience working with animals
- Experience handling livestock is a plus
- Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and animal restraint techniques
We'll also consider candidates who have:
- Farm or livestock experience
- Animal science or veterinary-related education
- A strong desire to build a career in veterinary medicine
We are willing to train the right candidate with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
Physical Requirements- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and move throughout the workday
- Ability to safely restrain animals of varying sizes
