As a Fertilization Technician
, you will lead the turf fertilization operations, upholding our high standards and driving continuous improvement to perform quality work safely. This position will have winter responsibilities with our snow operations team. All employees are expected to carry out the company’s purpose and demonstrate our core values.
As a Fertilization Technician at Schill Grounds Management, you must be able to perform the following essential functions of the job:
- Fertilizer and pesticide application (according to schedule) to lawns, trees, and shrubs.
- Responsible for weed control, shrub care, and aeration.
- Must use proper application techniques and comply with ODA standards, rules, and regulations
- Perform service calls and lawn inspections.
- Provide excellent customer service by handling customer issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Follow all proper safety procedures.
- Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and general maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
- Perform snow removal in the winter months.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
As a Fertilization Technician, you will need to have the following job skills and personal characteristics:
- Availability to work a varied schedule including Saturdays, as needed
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions including wet, rain, snow, or extreme heat or cold
- Basic understanding of mechanical landscape equipment
- Ability to identify plants, preferred
- Knowledge of fertilization and pesticides is preferred
- Must Have a Valid driver’s license, with acceptable driving record to meet fleet insurance standards
- Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test
- Must be able to move and/or lift up to 60 pounds consistently
- High school diploma or GED, preferred
- Ability to operate the equipment listed above, in addition to other commonly used landscaping equipment

Employees performing this job should be able and willing to drive or travel locally, if needed. Schedules for this position may vary and may require flexibility to work extended hours. Potential work hours during the snow season include nighttime, weekends, and holidays to participate in snow removal activities. This position will require working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including rain, snow, sun, extreme cold, or heat.
