Location: Belpre

Boxers Meds and Fixits is a small animal veterinary clinic located in Belpre, OH (just outside of Parkersburg, WV). Boxers operates in the same building as our sister business, a pet hotel called Boxers Bed & Biscuits.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Veterinarian to join our dynamic veterinary team, with an exciting opportunity to take ownership of the practice. This role offers a unique chance for a driven veterinarian to lead clinical operations, foster exceptional animal care, and develop the practice’s growth. As a key leader, you will oversee medical standards, mentor staff, and ensure the highest quality of veterinary services across a diverse range of species and medical cases.

Your expertise will directly impact the health and well-being of our animal patients while shaping the future of our practice.

We are open to a Pro Sal compensation method.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate all veterinary clinical activities, ensuring adherence to professional ethical guidelines and standards of veterinary medicine.
  • Provide comprehensive medical care for a variety of animals, including companion animals, exotic species, and equine patients, utilizing advanced knowledge in internal medicine, surgery, dentistry, cardiology, oncology, anesthesiology, and critical care.
  • Oversee animal restraint techniques, anesthesia procedures—including general anesthesia—and aseptic techniques during surgeries and diagnostic procedures.
  • Manage emergency medicine cases with prompt decision-making and effective treatment plans in critical and intensive care settings.
  • Supervise veterinary staff and support team members; provide mentorship in animal handling, laboratory procedures, pet grooming, animal husbandry, and client communication skills.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical ethical guidelines and maintain accurate medical records; uphold high standards in laboratory experience and diagnostic testing.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning by encouraging professional development in veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy knowledge, and specialized fields such as veterinary dentistry and animal catheterization.
Experience
  • Proven veterinary experience with a strong background in companion animal medicine,
  • Demonstrated expertise in veterinary surgery, internal medicine, anesthesiology, critical care, oncology, cardiology, and emergency medicine.
  • Hands-on experience with animal restraint techniques, anesthesia administration—including general anesthesia—and aseptic surgical procedures.
  • Knowledge of laboratory diagnostics and familiarity with internal medicine protocols for diverse species.
  • Strong understanding of clinical ethical guidelines related to veterinary practice; excellent communication skills for client education and team collaboration.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience is preferred but not mandatory; a proactive attitude toward practice ownership opportunities is highly valued.
