Maintenance Crew Leader

Environmental Management Inc. is seeking a dependable, motivated, and experienced Maintenance Crew Leader to join our growing team. This role is responsible for leading landscape maintenance crews, ensuring quality workmanship, maintaining safety standards, and delivering exceptional service to our clients. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on landscape maintenance experience, leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced outdoor environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support landscape maintenance crews in daily operations.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to company quality standards.
  • Operate commercial landscape maintenance equipment, including:
    • Riding mowers
    • Walk‑behind mowers
    • String trimmers
    • Backpack blowers
    • Stick edgers
    • Chainsaws
    • Gas‑powered hedge trimmers
  • Identify and remove weeds in landscape beds and planting areas.
  • Perform landscape maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, planting, pruning, mulching, digging, and raking.
  • Train and mentor crew members on proper work techniques and safety procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and clients when needed.
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or repair needs.
  • Ensure job sites are maintained in a clean, organized, and professional manner.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Previous landscape maintenance experience required.
  • Prior crew leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience operating commercial landscaping equipment.
  • Ability to identify common weeds and maintain landscape beds.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to lead by example and motivate team members.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and in varying weather conditions as needed.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in an outdoor environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Regular standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stretching, and lifting.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and humidity.
  • Ability to operate commercial landscaping equipment for extended periods.
