Job Overview
The Quality Engineer I is a key member of Materion’s Quality team, driving strong quality systems and ensuring high effectiveness. The Engineer will work closely with customers to resolve issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions that value both customer satisfaction and cost savings.
Responsibilities- Identify and collaborate on customer issues.
- Utilize root cause analysis tools to identify possible causes of issues and bring forth ideas to resolve them.
- Support quality standards (ISO
9001, AS9100D, ISO
17025, etc.) through documentation, internal and external audits, calibration, and other quality activities. - Collaborate with peers to ensure alignment across the organization.
- Participate in teams and projects that drive improvement in efficiency, yield, and other key metrics.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific or technical field (Metallurgy preferred).
- 3+ years of experience in a metals or materials production/laboratory environment.
- General knowledge of systematic quality management systems.
- Experience with ETQ software.
- Demonstrated ability to complete tasks on time.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite.
- Effective communicator with customers and employees.
- Ability to train others.
- Solution oriented, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- English language proficiency.
- Ability to travel (10% or less) and to travel 25–50% within the first six months (as required).
- Regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear.
- Occasional lifting or moving up to 35 pounds.
- Occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- Wear all proper PPE.
- Occasional exposure to low concentrations of fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
- No high noise levels.
Travel requirements may be 25–50% within the first six months.
Export ComplianceThe selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology under ITAR and EAR. Acceptable eligibility includes U.S. citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee or asylum seeker, eligible non‑prohibited national, or an individual approved for an export license requiring Materion’s determination to obtain a license within an acceptable timeframe.
