Terumo Pharmaceutical Services Germany (TPSG) in Leverkusen and Wuppertal is part of Terumo's global Pharmaceutical Solutions division, supporting pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies with high-quality contract development and manufacturing services.

The Quality Control department provides analytical testing services to support the release and stability assessment of biopharmaceutical products.

Our expertise spans physicochemical testing, chromatography, electrophoretic methods, bioassays, and microbiological testing.

Job Summary

As
Scientific Specialist QCBioassays
, you will be the technical expert for cell-based potency assays (e.g. reporter gene assays), ELISAs, and related biological test methods within our Quality Control laboratory.

Your primary focus will be supporting analytical method transfers, troubleshooting complex assay‑related issues, and providing scientific guidance to the Bioassay team. Working closely with analysts, clients, and cross‑functional stakeholders, you will help ensure robust assay performance and successful implementation of new methods.

In addition, you will support raw material testing and release activities within the broader Bioassay & Raw Materials team.

This position is primarily based in Wuppertal, and requires occasional presence at our Leverkusen site.

Job Responsibilities
  • Act as the scientific subject matter expert for cell-based potency assays (e.g. reporter gene assays), ELISAs, and related biological test methods.
  • Drive analytical method transfers, ensuring successful implementation of new methods into QC.
  • Troubleshoot assay performance issues and support technical investigations.
  • Provide scientific guidance to analysts during assay execution and problem‑solving activities.
  • Review analytical data and support investigations related to deviations, OOS/OOT results, and assay trends.
  • Author and review protocols, reports, analytical procedures, SOPs, and other technical documentation.
  • Participate in client discussions related to method transfers and technical topics.
  • Support raw material testing activities, including definition of testing strategies, coordination of testing, and preparation of release‑related documentation.
Profile Description
  • Master's degree or PhD in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Pharmacy, or a related scientific discipline.
  • At least 3 years of hands‑on experience with cell‑based potency assays (e.g. reporter gene assays) and ELISAs, gained in an industrial or academic setting.
  • Experience with analytical method transfers is highly desirable.
  • Strong scientific problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of GMP‑regulated environments is advantageous but not required.
  • Independent, hands‑on, and solution‑oriented working style.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English in a scientific and business environment.
