Job Description

Job Summary:

At Centrus Energy, we're strengthening technical documentation, procedures, and corrective-action processes that support safe, compliant nuclear operations. As an Engineering Technical Assistant supporting the American Centrifuge Plant engineering team in Piketon, you'll work alongside engineers and subject matter experts to turn complex technical information into clear, accurate procedures, work instructions, reports, training materials, and other controlled documents while also helping move CATSWeb issues, actions, and subtasks from identification through effective closure.

This is a hands-on technical writing, procedure development, and engineering support role that's ideal for someone who combines technical curiosity, strong writing skills, sound judgment, organization, and disciplined follow-through.

What You Will Do:

Develop, revise, and maintain technical and administrative procedures, work instructions, job aids, reports, training content, and supporting engineering documentation by gathering and validating input from engineers and subject matter experts. You will also perform or support the disposition, planning, coordination, tracking, and closure of CATSWeb Condition Notifications, Actions, and Subtasks, including problem definition, corrective action planning, extent-of-condition reviews, SMART subtasks, recurrence-prevention measures, closure evidence, and status reporting.

The role works across Engineering, Quality, Regulatory, Operations, Maintenance, Training, Configuration Management, and Document Control; limited routine administrative support may be assigned, but the primary focus is technical documentation, procedure development, corrective-action execution, and engineering workflow support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, revise, format, and maintain technical and administrative procedures, work instructions, job aids, manuals, reports, required reading, training materials, and other controlled or supporting documents.
  • Partner with engineers, subject matter experts, and end users to gather and validate technical information and translate drawings, specifications, work packages, engineering records, and complex processes into clear, accurate, usable content.
  • Coordinate document reviews, comment resolution, change evaluations, approvals, issuance, and records, maintaining traceability and alignment with document control, configuration management, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and, when qualified and authorized, perform assigned CATSWeb disposition and resolution activities for issues, actions, and subtasks from initial engineering review through completion and closure.
  • Support corrective action plans that define the problem and cause, identify immediate or compensatory actions, evaluate extent of condition, resolve the issue, prevent recurrence, and include effectiveness reviews when appropriate.
  • Develop and track SMART subtasks; collect and evaluate objective closure evidence; draft action-taken descriptions and closure summaries; and monitor due dates, aging items, recurring issues, and backlog-reduction priorities.
  • Coordinate across functions, prepare status updates and metrics, exercise technical judgment within assigned scope, escalate decisions requiring formal engineering, safety, quality, or regulatory approval, and perform limited technical administrative support as needed.
We'd Love to Hear From People With:
  • An associate degree or higher in engineering technology, engineering science, physical sciences, technical writing or communication, quality assurance, industrial technology, or a related field - or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in technical writing, procedure writing, engineering support, corrective action or CAPA, quality, document control, manufacturing, operations support, or a related technical environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and edit procedures, work instructions, technical reports, training materials, or other controlled documents using clear, concise, user-focused language.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and organize information from technical procedures, work packages, drawings, specifications, engineering records, corrective action records, and regulatory or quality documents, with subject matter expert support as needed.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical personnel, ask effective questions, resolve comments, and maintain accuracy and traceability.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and comfort using document repositories, action-tracking systems, records management tools, or similar enterprise systems.
  • Strong organization, prioritization, judgment, and attention to detail, including the ability to manage multiple assignments and sensitive information and to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance.
