Position Overview

Terminal Managers are responsible for all aspects of the terminal's material operations and administrative functions. They supervise, direct and coordinate activities, such as making sure that the material meets or exceeds DOT Specifications and assigning duties to employees.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage the testing of the materials to determine specific requirements in a safe, efficient, and productive manner.
  • Identify and become familiar with various mix specifications requirements.
  • Communicate and assist personnel in adjusting processes to conform to specifications.
  • Maintain recordkeeping and documentation.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Control inventory, management of the personnel, and scheduling and staffing.
  • Must be able to manage a facility within budget, execute a maintenance program, keep their area of work professional and clean, and clearly communicate issues relevant to individual staff members or the team.

  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary
  • Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures.
  • Strict adherence to Shelly Company policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Book of Policies.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all Shelly Company employees. Employees will be held accountable for adhering to their workplace schedule.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education and Experience

Associate’s degree or equivalent from an accredited university or technical school; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficient with Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move more than 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
