We are seeking excellent candidates with strong research skills who are at an early stage of their career, have successfully completed their PhD, and are able to propose a research project that should fall within one of the department’s research areas. Applicants are expected to work closely with the director and the other assistants in the scientific and organizational running of the department.
The tasks include, among others: coordination and organization of the department’s scientific activities; development and supervision of research projects in the department’s research areas; collaboration with visiting scholars, including those from other disciplines; providing scientific supervision to fellows and interns, also in cooperation with the assistants from other departments and research groups.
The position is initially limited to two years, with the possibility of extension under the German Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz. If the personal requirements are met, remuneration up to TVöD EG 13 will be offered, including respective foreign allowances in accordance with Sonderregelungen § 45 BT-V zum TVöD, as well as social benefits as stipulated in the German Civil Service Collective Agreement (TVöD Bund).
Alternatively, a contract for local employees may be granted in accordance with the conditions of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Rome.

. Interviews will take place in April at the Bibliotheca Hertziana in Rome (in person). Necessary travel and accommodation expenses may be reimbursed.
