Postdoctoral researcher in Signal Processing for Interference and Jamming Detection/Mitigation
The University of Luxembourg is an international research university with a distinctly multilingual and interdisciplinary character.
The Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) at the University of Luxembourg is a leading international research and innovation centre in secure, reliable and trustworthy ICT systems and services.
We play an instrumental role in Europe by fueling innovation through research partnerships with industry, boosting R&D investments leading to economic growth, and attracting highly qualified talent. We look for researchers from diverse academic backgrounds to contribute to our projects in areas such as:
Network Security, Information Assurance, Model-driven Security, Cloud Computing, Cryptography, Satellite Systems, Vehicular Networks, and ICT Services & Applications.
The Sig Com research group of SnT, headed by Prof. Symeon Chatzinotas, focuses on wireless/satellite communications and networking. The research areas focus on the formulation, modeling, design, and analysis of future 6G communication networks that are capable of supporting new services for digital ecosystems. Use cases of interest include Security and Efficient Wireless Communication Solutions, IoT verticals, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Integrated Satellite-Space-Terrestrial Networks, Quantum Communications and Key Distribution, Spectrum Management and Coexistence, Tactile Internet, Earth Observation, and Autonomous Transportation.
As far as technical enablers are concerned, we leverage expertise on advanced technologies including semantic/task-oriented data processing, signal processing, network resource management to improve the performance of the future wireless communication systems. Finally, due to the large-scale nature, complexity, and heterogeneity of 6G networks, for their analysis and optimization, we use tools such as artificial intelligence/machine learning, graph theory and graph-signal processing, and convex/non-convex optimization.
Furthermore, our activities are experimentally driven and supported by COMMLab, 6
GSPACE Lab, Hybrid Net Lab , QCILab, Telecom
AI Lab, CSAT Lab, our SW Simulators, and our Facilities. For further information, you may refer to https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). .
The successful candidate will join the SIGCOM Research Group and contribute to the activities related to resilient wireless network, coping with possible intentional interference a.k.a. jamming; and unintentional but yet severe interference events. We are looking for a candidate capable of designing and developing signal processing techniques capable of detecting and characterizing interference/jamming events; as well as mitigation techniques involving multi-antenna signal processing (direction of arrival estimation, nulling, beam-steering, etc) and/or signal cancellation/cleaning.
The position offers an exciting opportunity to engage in cutting‑edge research that addresses both theoretical challenges and practical applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop innovative methods and tools for highly dynamic and spectrally congested environments, where interference and jamming may occur. The techniques include detection/sensing, characterization, and mitigation
- Theoretical signal processing as well as data-driven AI tools are expected to be used to support fast and proactive decision‑making systems involving general wireless communications and non‑terrestrial satellite systems
- Collaborate with an international and multi-disciplinary team within SIGCOM group
- Support on‑going activities related to resilient wireless communication networks
- Attract new funding related to resilient wireless communication networks
- Publish results in top-tier journals and present at leading international conferences and workshops
- Contribute to research dissemination and outreach activities, including engagement with students and the broader public
- Ph.D. in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline
- Proven research excellence with a solid track record of publications in…
