Job Summary
The Lab Technician supports laboratory-based scientific investigations by carrying out routine technical tasks and experiments.
Responsibilities- Receive, label, prepare, and analyze laboratory samples in accordance with established procedures.
- Conduct routine laboratory tests and experiments under defined conditions.
- Follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines at all times.
- Accurately record test data, observations, and results in paper and/or electronic formats.
- Assist in reviewing and interpreting test results, escalating any inconsistencies or unexpected findings.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, tools, and work areas in clean and proper working condition.
- Support inventory tracking and assist with ordering laboratory supplies as needed.
- Prepare materials, samples, and equipment for testing and experimentation.
- Assist with troubleshooting basic laboratory or testing issues.
- Collaborate with the Innovation, Quality Control, and Process Innovation teams as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and proper documentation of laboratory work, findings, and company information.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Associate degree in science, engineering, chemistry, materials science, or a related technical field required.
- Prior laboratory experience preferred.
- Experience in materials testing, plastics, polymers, calcium carbonate, or manufacturing environments is plus.
- Ability to follow detailed procedures and accurately document results.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy and safety.
- Basic understanding of laboratory testing procedures and analytical methods.
- Ability to operate and maintain standard laboratory equipment.
- Strong data entry and documentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other basic computer applications.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow technical instructions, safety guidelines, and testing protocols.
- Strong written and oral communication.
- Sound judgment and decision-making.
- Critical thinking and advanced problem solving.
- Ability to lead, train, and develop junior staff.
