Internship in the Technology Group in Medicinal Chemistry

As an intern, you will be part of a team at our main research site in Biberach an der Riß, Germany. During your time with us, you will collaborate closely with experienced scientists, exchanging ideas and gaining valuable insights that support your personal and professional development.
You will gain hands‑on experience, contribute to the in‑house projects, and learn from experts in a company that’s shaping the future of healthcare.
- Conduct the synthesis of new molecules (microscale high-throughput, medium scale in batch and flow) to support chemistry enablement projects in the Med Chem Technologies group.
- Plan and execute organic chemistry experiments, including purification (e.g., chromatography) and characterization of new molecular entities.
- Analyze experimental data (e.g., by LC‑MS and NMR), interpret results, and document findings in electronic laboratory notebooks.
- Conduct scientific literature searches to gather information on synthetic methods and reaction mechanisms.
- Explore and optimize synthetic methods with the focus on improving scope, yield and scalability.
- Follow laboratory safety protocols and ensure compliance with internal standards.
- Master students in organic chemistry (PhD students in their last years of doctoral studies is a plus).
- Comprehensive and state‑of‑the‑art knowledge of organic chemistry and reaction mechanisms.
- Hands‑on experience with different laboratory reaction setups, including inert atmosphere techniques and purification methods. Experience with photo‑/electro‑/flow chemistry as well as parallel synthesis (high/medium throughput) is a plus.
- Experience in analytical techniques for reaction monitoring and characterization of molecules (NMR, LC‑MS).
- Data analysis skills (Excel/Python) are desirable.
- Proficiency in scientific searching engines such as Reaxys or Scifinder and chemical drawing tools.
- Intercultural competencies, ideally shown by experience abroad.
- Proficient oral and written communication skills in English (good command in German is a plus).
