Overview
Step into one of the most unique dining environments in Ohio and help create unforgettable moments for our Nomad Ridge guests. As a Seasonal Overlook Nomad Server, you’ll deliver exceptional hospitality, support conservation‑minded dining experiences, and play a key role in making every visit to The Wilds truly memorable.
Provide an exceptional dining experience for Nomad Ridge guests through high‑quality service, food & beverage support, and strong commitment to The Wilds’ mission of conservation, education, and outstanding hospitality. Servers ensure a welcoming atmosphere, maintain clean and organized dining areas, and deliver prompt, accurate service in a fast-paced environment.
ResponsibilitiesGuest Service & Hospitality
- Greet and provide prompt, friendly service to our Wilds guests.
- Learn about The Wilds and their species to accurately answer guest questions.
- Provide an exceptional dining experience for our Nomad Ridge guests in a fast-paced food and beverage environment.
- Deliver excellent guest service in a clean and inviting atmosphere.
- Assist guests with questions and provide support.
Food & Beverage Service
- Execute accurate sales transactions.
- Assist with Nomad dining room setup and food preparation for each dining service.
- Uphold Responsible Alcohol Policy standards.
- Prepare and serve beverages, including coffee and alcohol, following Serv Safe and Responsible Alcohol guidelines.
Cleanliness, Safety & Operational Support
- Maintain a clean work area, including restocking, inventory management, and cleaning.
- Assist in various aspects as needed and as requested by the Food and Beverage Manager, including but not limited to food prep, catering setup, quick service food sales, and dishwashing.
- Communicate clearly to the Food and Beverage Manager and Food & Beverage Section Lead.
- Follow Serv Safe guidelines to ensure safe and sanitary food handling and dining environments.
- Maintain dining and deck areas by keeping them clean, stocked, and presentable always.
- Assist with Food & Beverage tasks such as dishwashing, prep, and service support, as needed.
Teamwork, Communication & Mission Support
- Train and guide other staff as needed.
- Provide support to other Visitor Operations roles when needed.
- Strive to further the mission of The Wilds and support the Columbus Zoo Family of Parks.
- Maintain open communication with Area Leads, Kitchen Coordinators, and Food & Beverage Management.
- Work cooperatively with other departments to ensure seamless operations.
Certifications & Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Previous food service or waitstaff experience preferred.
- Serv Safe Certification (can provide before starting).
- Responsible Alcohol Service compliance required per Wilds policies.
Customer Service & Professionalism
- Exceptional customer service skills required.
- Positive, professional attitude with strong interpersonal skills, consistent with Wilds F&B expectations.
- Effective verbal communication skills for guest interactions and team coordination.
Work Environment & Adaptability
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, days, and evenings.
- Ability to adapt easily to a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to operate a two-way radio.
- Strong decision-making and problem‑solving skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods and walk frequently throughout shifts.
- Ability to lift and carry 10–35 lbs. frequently, up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Ability to bend, reach, grasp, and perform repetitive tasks during service.
