I am currently partnering with a leading European food manufacturing group to appoint a commercially driven Business Development Executive with a strong focus on the German retail market.
This is a high-impact role combining key account management and new business acquisition within one of Europe’s most competitive retail landscapes.
The OpportunityYou will take ownership of:
- Managing established long‑term food service and retail accounts
- Driving new business development across Germany
- Negotiating directly with retail buyers and procurement teams
- Delivering commercial growth through strategic account expansion
This role offers direct exposure to senior leadership and significant autonomy in shaping the German growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities- Lead commercial negotiations with German retail buyers and food service customers
- Secure new listings and manage annual price reviews
- Develop and execute account growth strategies
- Manage pricing, margins, and promotional planning
- Ensure optimal product mix to maximise profitability
- Oversee contracts, pricing structures, and delivery terms within territory
- Identify and convert new retail and food service opportunities across Germany
We are seeking a commercially astute individual who understands the German retail landscape and can operate confidently in buyer‑led environments.
- Fluency in German and English
- 2–4 years’ experience selling into retail (preferably food or agribusiness)
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets
- Experience negotiating pricing and managing retail contracts
- Strong understanding of margin management and category growth
- Experience with German discounters (Aldi, Lidl) or full‑line retailers (Rewe, Edeka)
- Knowledge of international logistics / shipping
- Experience in protein, meat, or fresh categories
- Remote role (Germany or Ireland based)
- Majority travel within Germany
- Full travel expenses covered
