Senior Account Manager, Defence & Security

About the role:As a Senior Regional Sales Manager (m/f/d) Defence & Security, you will be responsible for driving sales growth in the Defence & Security segment across your region. You will primarily work with the Export Team, Product Management, and cross‑functional stakeholders, as well as external partners such as armed forces, defence contractors, system integrators, and distributors.
You are expected to develop and execute sales strategies, manage key accounts, and win new business in complex, long‑cycle environments. This role requires approximately one week of travel per month.
Key activities for the role are:- Develop and execute regional sales strategies to achieve order intake, revenue, and margin targets
- Identify and win new opportunities with defense forces, government agencies, and industry partners
- Manage and grow key accounts, including framework agreements and long‑term programs
- Own the full sales cycle from prospecting to contract closure and handover
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across commercial, technical, and executive levels
- Coordinate and manage channel partners and distributors
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and defence programs
- Ensure compliance with export control regulations and procurement requirements
- Represent Suunto at trade fairs, industry events, and customer demonstrations
- Maintain CRM pipelines, forecasts, and account plans
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Defence/Security Studies, or other suitable field
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in B2B/B2G sales within defence, security, aerospace, or high‑tech industries
- Strong sales and negotiation skills with a proven track record in complex projects and long sales cycles
- Understanding of government procurement processes, public tenders, and defence programs
- Good communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus
- Willingness to travel frequently
- Existing network in the defence/military sector is an advantage
- Experience with CRM tools and MS Office
