EHSS (Employee Health, Safety and Security) Officers are responsible for the safety and protection of company employees, property, and assets by monitoring CCTV, access control, dispatch systems, and physical surveillance. They answer all safety/security‑related telephone calls and document incidents involving employees, product, and company assets. Officers work with the Director of EHSS, Human Resources, and Legal departments to enforce all company policies and procedures.
Shift: 4:00pm–12:00am Monday‑Friday, OT as needed.
ResponsibilitiesMajor responsibilities of the position are listed below. To perform the job successfully, the individual must be able to execute each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
- Conduct regular patrols of parking lots by patrol vehicle or on foot to monitor vehicle traffic, deter trespassing, manage public access, and enforce parking and safety policies.
- Document all safety and security incidents in detailed reports.
- Respond promptly to calls for assistance from departments across the company, ensuring a safe and secure environment.
- Investigate incidents and potential crimes against the company by gathering information from relevant sources and reporting findings appropriately.
- Provide professional customer service by greeting visitors, offering directions, issuing visitor badges, and enforcing the Corporate Access Management policy to maintain site security.
- Respond to burglary and fire alarm calls on and off campus while coordinating with emergency services to ensure timely and safe resolutions.
- Provide immediate medical assistance during emergencies, including First Aid/CPR as needed.
- Support paramedics and/or in‑house nurse or Human Resources during medical responses to ensure the health and safety of all individuals on site.
- Perform additional safety and security duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- 1‑2 years recent security experience.
- A professional demeanor and excellent communication skills are required to interact effectively with all levels of company personnel and outside contacts. The ability to diplomatically resolve potentially disruptive situations is essential.
- The ability to produce accurate, concise and detailed reports that can withstand review by senior personnel and legal authorities is essential.
- The ability to prioritize responsibilities and maintain composure while dealing with frequent distractions is required; multitasking is a must.
Department of Public Safety Standard Training (DPSST) certification is required within 30 days of hire (Oregon only) or state‑specific training for security.
Must be able to work a variable schedule when overtime is assigned.
- Working knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Office applications is required.
- This position is security and safety sensitive. Candidates will need to pass a drug/alcohol screening and background check.
