Kenyon College is conducting a search for a qualified candidate to fill the position ofCampus

Safety Evening Shift Supervisor. The Campus Safety Evening Night Shift Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision of Campus Safety union personnel, including Dispatchers (Telecommunication Officers) and Field Officers. The Supervisor ensures the efficient daily operation of the communications center, patrol functions, emergency response activities, and the delivery of professional safety and security services to the campus community. The position requires strong leadership, decision-making, problem-solving, and customer service skills while maintaining compliance with departmental policies, college regulations, and applicable laws.

The hourly rate of pay will be $29.00/hour. All Campus Safetynon  exempt staff will receive a shift premium of $1.50 from 5:00 p.m.

- 7:00 a.m.Overtime opportunities are available to supportcampusevents, emergencies, staffing shortages through a staff rotation system, and other operational needs. Overtime assignments are offered in accordance with departmental procedures and staffing requirements.

Campus Safety Supervisors  and Field Officers are assigned to a 4-10 work schedule and the work hours are 5:0 pm - 3:00 am.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Field Officer Functions

  • A Campus Safety Supervisor is responsible for daily field operations and responsibilities as stated in the Field Officer position description.

Personnel Supervision

  • Provide direct supervision, leadership, and guidance to Dispatchers and Field Officers.
  • Monitor employee performance and ensure adherence to departmental policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Conduct shift briefings and communicate operational updates.
  • Assist with employee training, coaching, and professional development.
  • Participate in performance evaluations and disciplinary processes as assigned.
  • Ensure proper staffing levels and shift coverage in coordination with the Operations & Training Coordinator.

Dispatch Operations Oversight

  • Supervise daily operations of the Campus Safety Communications Center.
  • Ensure dispatch personnel effectively receive, prioritize, and relay information regarding emergencies, incidents, and service requests.
  • Monitor radio traffic, telephone communications, and computer-aided dispatch systems.
  • Review dispatch logs and incident reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure timely notification of appropriate campus officials, emergency responders, and outside agencies.
  • Provide support during critical incidents and emergency situations.

Field Operations Oversight

  • Direct and coordinate patrol assignments and campus coverage.
  • Monitor officer activity and ensure proactive patrol practices are maintained.
  • Respond to incidents requiring supervisory involvement.
  • Ensure proper handling of investigations, documentation, and evidence when applicable.
  • Conduct building security inspections and review patrol activities.
  • Assist with traffic control, crowd management, special events, and emergency operations.

Emergency Response and Incident Management

  • Respond to emergencies, alarms, medical incidents, criminal activity, and other campus safety concerns.
  • Serve as the on-duty incident commander until relieved by higher authority.
  • Coordinate responses with local law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services.
  • Implement emergency procedures and assist with campus emergency management initiatives.
  • Participate in after-action reviews and incident debriefings.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Review incident reports, daily logs, and other departmental documentation.
  • Prepare reports and maintain records as required.
  • Assist with policy development and procedural updates.
  • Monitor equipment and vehicle readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with Clery Act reporting requirements and departmental reporting standards.
  • Participate in committee meetings, training programs, and departmental projects.
  • Respond to emails to the Office of Campus Safety for operational responsibilities
  • Ability to work overtime for shift coverage and departmental needs.
  • Ability to multitask between field officer and administrative responsibilities.
  • Will be included in the Supervisor on-call process within the Office of Campus Safety.

  • Foster positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, parents, and visitors.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and conflict resolution.
  • Promote safety awareness and educational initiatives throughout the campus community.
