Job Summary /Basic FunctionJOB SUMMARY
Under direct supervision, performs general patrol and operational duties ensuring compliance with all applicable Federal and State Laws and University Policies; answers calls when a crime issuspected or an emergency exists; takes such actions as are necessary to prevent crime, to maintain safety, to assist thecampus community in a wide range of emergency and non-emergency situations. The Central State University Police Departmentsubscribes to the Community-Oriented Policing philosophy and,therefore, the primary emphasis of the position involves community service.
Officers are required to take a problem-solving approach to the situations they encounter on a day-to-day basis and to interact with the campus community on a regular basis to addressrelevant concerns facing the campus community.

Minimum Qualifications- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of a State certified Peace Officer basictraining program, or able to transfer an out of state certification.
- Minimum of 21 years of age at time of appointment.
- Must possess a valid Ohio Driver’s license, and must maintain thevalid Ohio Driver’s license consistent with Central State University policy, and within the constraints provided by the University’s insurance carrier(s).
- Must be a United States citizen.
- Background must be free of felony convictions.
- Successful completion of all phases of the Selection Process,including but not limited to physical and psychologicalexaminations.
- Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy Certified
- Prior law enforcement experience
- National Association of School Resources Officer ( NASRO )certified
- Experience in Community Oriented Policing Initiative
- Bachelor’s Degree or Post High School Certification
