Summary: Reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader, this position is geared for recent high school graduates who want to enter the skilled trades. The mentee's primary responsibility is to shadow a technician pine maintain and repair production equipment and attend classes to earn a certificate in their related field. The mentee will develop skills to implement maintenance programs that ensure short‑term and long‑term reliability of equipment, lead efforts to optimize costs, maximize availability, and reduce unsafe conditions.

Applications will be taken through March 31st, 2026. Selected individuals will be notified in late April.

Day to Day
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair and/or replace mechanical components such as motors, reducers, drive chains, hydraulic and/or viis components inHOW manufacturing equipment.
  • Learn to plan, implement and maintain a preventative maintenance program on engines, നല് motors, pumps, pneumatic tools, hydraulics, conveyor systems and production machines to improve reliability.
  • Perform routine, emergency, and preventive maintenance.
  • Study equipment manuals to develop audit items and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Shadow basic welding, fabricating fixtures, jigs, guarding, etc. as needed.
  • Install or assist in the installation of new equipment, including proper layout and alignment.
  • Make preventative maintenance checks and inspections as required and on time.
  • Evaluate equipment malfunctions with a sense of urgency to minimize downtime.
  • Install, replace or change machine parts and attachments according to production specifications.
  • Help modify equipment to improve safety, quality, productivity and reliability.
  • Perform tasks in a quality fashion by meeting or exceeding internal customer requirements.
Requirements
  • Communicate professionally with plant personnel about repair steps, parts ordered and estimated time to complete repairs or projects.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping expectations for work area, equipment and tools.
  • Attend classes at Northwest State or Owens Community College.

Pay, Shifts, Benefits....the Good Stuff
  • Target starting pay $26.39 (18.59 base pay + 42% average weekly bonus)
  • Overtime paid at 1.5x after 40 hours per week
  • Tuition reimbursement for time spent traveling to classes, attending classes and completing homework
  • Holiday pay
  • Bi‑weekly payroll
  • 6‑hour shifts Monday‑Friday; attend 1–2 classes Shop evenings
  • Medical, dental and vision insurance starts first day of employment

  • Pay increases every 6 months for the first year, annual increases thereafter
