Drain technicians are responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining sewer systems. They commonly work with various equipment including sewer hole covers, pumps, hoses, clamps, wrenches, Jetter’s and other tools.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Cleaning drains using hand tools such as brushes, rods, and hoses
- Inspecting drain systems to locate clogs or leaks, using cameras, and listening devices such as stethoscopes to pinpoint the problem spots
- Installing new pipes and drainage systems according to design specifications
- Diagnosing problems with drain systems and identifying solutions to resolve them
- Repairing broken pipes using welding equipment, pipe cutting tools, and other hand tools
- Cleaning pipes of debris using high pressure water jets or other methods
- Installing and repairing septic tanks, grease traps, and other pipes related to wastewater treatment systems
- Maintaining records of work performed on sewer systems
- Prepare bids, cost estimates, and project budgets.
- Accurately log billable hours using a time tracking app.
- Manage job details, review daily tasks, and follow up with customers using Service Titan.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. - 3+ years of Drain cleaning experience.
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and lift heavy objects.
- Knowledge of local plumbing codes.
- Knowledge of plumbing systems and tools.
- Must be able to run drain equipment and camera equipment for video inspections of drain lines.
- Experience with Service Titan preferred.
