Job Description
The Landscape Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for safely operating machinery and equipment on landscaping construction or grounds maintenance job sites at one or more Carnival Corporation owned and operated global destination. This role involves handling equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, backhoes, and other heavy machinery to complete landscaping, grading, excavation, and maintenance tasks. The operator ensures all equipment is used efficiently, safely, and in compliance with operational and safety protocols.
In addition to equipment operation, the operator may assist other landscaping laborers and technicians, providing support in various tasks such as material handling, site preparation, and project execution. The role requires strong attention to safety, teamwork, and adherence to established procedures to ensure the timely and effective completion of landscaping projects.
Heavy Equipment Operation & Excavation & Grading
- Operate backhoes, bulldozers, loaders, graders, and similar machinery to excavate, move, load, and grade earth, rock, gravel, and other materials.
- Perform site preparation, leveling, and shaping to meet landscaping design specifications.
- Ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment in compliance with safety regulations and company procedures.
- Monitor equipment performance and report any maintenance or operational issues promptly.
- Operate power shovels and other specialized machinery to excavate rock, ore, or other materials accurately.
- Follow site plans and excavation specifications while ensuring stability and safety of surrounding areas.
- Maintain awareness of environmental and safety considerations during excavation activities.
- Use heavy equipment to move, load, and unload materials, supplies, and cargo for landscaping projects.
- Assist with transporting equipment, tools, and materials to support smooth workflow.
- Ensure proper stacking, securing, and placement of materials to prevent damage or hazards.
- Provide assistance to landscaping crew members with construction, maintenance, and other site-related tasks.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Landscaping Lead or Supervisor, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
- Customer service experience gained in a similar role is required.
- Proficiency in the use of computer business applications, with
- working knowledge of computerized accounting and payroll systems.
- Good communication skills.
- Knowledge of maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience is required; additional education in Hospitality or a related field is a plus
- Minimum 1-2 years’ experience operating heavy machinery
- Ability to proficiently operate heavy machinery.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in conversational English
- Guest Facing Experience
- Must be physically fit.
- Ability to work in an outdoor environment as needed.
- May need to stand for long periods of time.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with data entry and reporting tools.
- Detail orientated with a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Ability to multi-task and think critically
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Strong planning and coordination skills, especially in handling multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- May be requested to work a shift schedule while at any of the destinations.
