Shop Mechanic – Avella, PA
JENNMAR Services – Turning Point Division – is an industry leader in trucking, plant maintenance, excavation and industrial mowing. We are seeking a skilled and dependable shop mechanic. Our fleet consists of 40+ pickup trucks (½ ton‑2 tons), 5 semis, multiple semi trailers, gooseneck trailers, bumper‑pull trailers, and heavy equipment such as skid steers, mini excavators, dozers, large excavators, tractors and Ventrac’s.
The ideal candidate will use career experience and acquired knowledge to inspect, diagnose, repair and maintain our fleet. You will have strong technical knowledge, good attendance, attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high‑quality work.
- Perform routine maintenance on all assets (oil changes, tire rotations/replacements, brake service, fluid checks, etc.).
- Diagnose mechanical and electronic issues.
- Repair or replace worn or damaged parts (engines, transmissions, brakes, steering and suspension systems).
- Maintain accurate records of services performed and parts used.
- Follow all safety procedures.
- Keep the work area clean and organized.
- Communicate clearly with coworkers and management, and consistently provide updates and timelines about repair needs.
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical or vocational training preferred but not required).
- Proven experience as a mechanic or heavy equipment technician.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and repair techniques.
- Ability to safely operate a variety of equipment.
- Must bring their own toolbox and tools.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass drug/alcohol testing.
- CDL A or B is a plus but not required.
- ASE certification(s) a plus but not required.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach overhead.
- Occasionally required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50–75 lbs.
- Ability to acquire PPE such as safety toe boots.
- Repair shop, garage setting or trucking yard.
- As needed field repairs (company truck will be provided for field work).
- Exposure to loud noise, grease, moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions and automotive chemicals.
- $26 – $32+ per hour; full‑time schedule (M‑F), minimum of 40 hours per week; occasional overtime may be required.
