JOB SUMMARY
The Electromechanical Technician is responsible for maintaining the daily operation of the Pilot Plant by ensuring that breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance on facility systems are carried out in a safe, timely, and effective manner. This position is responsible for the electrical and mechanical installation of new equipment as well as repair, inspection, and calibration of existing equipment, and for accurate record keeping and data entry into the plant maintenance management system.
JOBRESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow safe work practices and support safety goals and objectives.
- Make all necessary mechanical repairs on equipment including replacement, repair and installation of motors, pumps, sleeves, bearings, gears, shafts, pins, etc.
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical equipment up to 480V.
- Perform piping installation and determine correct materials for each service.
- Create, modify, read, and understand piping specification, engineering and electrical drawings.
- Operate industrial equipment such as forklifts, hoists, and lifts safely.
- Repair, calibrate, and install instrumentation such as flow meters and pressure transmitters.
- Troubleshoot and engage in basic programming of distributed control systems and PLCs.
- Participate on the Emergency Response Team.
- Assist with managing outside service contractors.
- Maintain and improve preventative/predictive maintenance programs.
- Utilize maintenance management systems.
High School Diploma/GED.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS3–5 years of industrial electrical/mechanical or equivalent experience.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTSCertified Electrician or Craftsman preferred but not required.
SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE- High school or equivalent degree with 3–5 years of experience in maintenance in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a chemical/production facility.
- Self‑starter who can work in a high‑paced environment.
- Capable of collaborating closely with maintenance and production teams.
- Able to handle up to 50 pounds and possess physical dexterity for assembly and operation of equipment.
- Working knowledge of computer applications (Word, Excel, E‑Mail, maintenance management systems).
- Journeyman Electrical and Mechanical experience (preferred).
- Experience with distributed control systems, PLCs, and instrumentation (preferred).
- Experience working in a high‑performance work culture (preferred).
- Familiarity with Process Safety Management concepts and requirements (preferred).
- Certified Welder (preferred).
- SAP maintenance management system experience (preferred).
The plant currently operates two 8‑hour maintenance shifts, days and afternoons, five days a week. This schedule may change but is not currently planned. Overtime may be required, though it is currently uncommon.
