Covia is looking for a dynamic Heavy Equipment Mechanic who will have a positive impact on the Operations team at its Thompson, OH location. As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will maintain, diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, such as front-end loaders, bulldozers, skid steers, plant trucks, etc.
The successful candidate will have the following Key Accountabilities:
- Cleaning, lubricating, and conducting routine services on heavy-duty equipment & vehicles
- Diagnosing faults using computerized testing equipment
- Adjusting equipment and replacing faulty parts
- Repairing damaged equipment parts
- Performing major repair work as needed
- Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments
- Reporting damaged or faulty equipment to management
- Complete related paperwork and access databases required to complete job (work order, parts order, JSA, Etc.) accurately and timely
- Performs other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Proven work experience as a Diesel or Heavy Equipment Mechanic
- Certification as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or AA in Applied Diesel Technology, preferred.
- Knowledge of database software, internet software, & manufacturer software.
- Proficient use of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments, laptops, diagnostic software and cranes and rigging equipment.
- Product knowledge of gas, diesel, electrical, electronic, and mechanical components.
