This is skilled mechanical work in the preventive maintenance and repair of city owned vehicles and equipment. Work involves responsibility for the performance of skilled tasks in the preventative maintenance and mechanical repair of a variety of gasoline and diesel powered vehicles and specialized equipment. Work includes preventative maintenance, diagnosis and repair of City owned vehicles and equipment.

Please note, that this position is under the United Steelworkers (USW) Union, as such, a successful candidate would start at Step 1 and earn $30.53/hr the regular work hours for this position are M - F, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.

Employee works under general supervision of the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor. Assignments are received in the form of work orders and employee must be able to use independent judgment in diagnosis and repair. Work is subject to inspection while in progress and upon completion and through performance appraisals.
