Position SummaryApex Fleet Services is seeking an experienced and motivated Diesel Mechanic to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on medium‑ and heavy‑duty diesel trucks, trailers, and fleet vehicles. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and engine‑related issues.
- Perform preventative maintenance services including oil changes, filter replacements, inspections, and lubrication.
- Repair diesel engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, suspension systems, steering, brakes, and driveline components.
- Perform electrical troubleshooting using diagnostic software and equipment.
- Repair and replace fuel systems, cooling systems, exhaust systems, and emission control components.
- Conduct DOT inspections and ensure vehicles meet federal and state safety regulations.
- Complete work orders accurately and maintain detailed service records.
- Operate diagnostic scan tools and interpret fault codes.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Communicate repair recommendations and vehicle status with service advisors and customers.
- Respond to emergency roadside or on‑site service calls when required.
- Follow all OSHA and company safety policies.
Required:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2 years of diesel mechanic experience (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines and commercial vehicle systems.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems efficiently.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred:
- ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certifications.
- CDL (Commercial Driver's License).
- Experience with Cummins, Detroit Diesel, Paccar, Caterpillar, International, Volvo, or Mack engines.
- Experience using OEM diagnostic software.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
