Location: Orient
Responsibilities
- Act as lead worker providing work direction and training to lower‑level electricians or incarcerated individuals engaged in installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring systems, fixtures, controls, and equipment.
- Install, test, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical wiring systems, fixtures, controls, and equipment, including motors, appliances, fans, transformers, heating and cooling equipment, fire and alarm/security systems, elevators, and switches.
- Determine and complete material requirements, prepare cost estimates, and submit purchase requests.
- Read blueprints and schematic diagrams; maintain an inventory of electrical supplies.
- Maintain tool count for tools used by incarcerated individuals, completing tool control forms daily and preserving strict inventory records.
- Perform other maintenance and miscellaneous duties such as semi‑skilled carpentry, painting, sheet metal, HVAC, and electrical work.
- Ensure compliance with security regulations.
- Install, troubleshoot, test, modify, and maintain basic telecommunications and electronic data processing equipment, including cable television lines, telephone lines, computer/terminal lines, printers, and analog or digital phones in the institutional setting.
- Serve on institutional committees.
- Attend training, seminars, and meetings.
- Perform security functions as required, such as man‑down, shakedown, and inmate movement.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including snow and ice removal and grass cutting.
- Minimum 18 months of training or verifiable experience in electrical work under the supervision of an experienced electrician; formal education in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, reading, and writing basic English vocabulary.
- Alternatively 6 months of experience as Electrician 1 (position code 52281).
- Alternatively equivalent to the minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
