Job SummaryThe Vehicle and Equipment Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing company-owned vehicles, trailers, and equipment to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance with DOT regulations. This position requires hands‑on mechanical expertise to troubleshoot issues, perform preventive maintenance, and complete necessary repairs, helping keep operations running efficiently.
Essential Job Functions- Perform repairs and maintenance on gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, and electrical systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical malfunctions on various company vehicles and equipment.
- Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble vehicles, trailers, and machinery as needed.
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance to ensure compliance with DOT and company standards.
- Maintain and install electrical components, including lighting, trailer plugs, starting, and charging systems.
- Perform tire changes, balancing, and minor welding/fabrication when required.
- Conduct hydraulic system repairs and fabricate hydraulic hoses for vehicles and equipment.
- Perform wheel alignments and repairs on power take-off (PTO) equipment.
- Complete on-site repairs as needed to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of time, materials, and repairs for compliance and reporting purposes.
- Communicate directly with management regarding completed work and required parts.
- Acquire and maintain ASE A/C Recovery Certification as required by federal regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

:
Understanding of DOT compliance, vehicle safety standards, and regulatory maintenance requirements. - Tools & Systems
:
Proficiency with hand tools, diagnostic software, welding equipment, and hydraulic repair tools.
- 2+ years of experience in vehicle and equipment maintenance or completion of a technical school program in auto/diesel mechanics.
- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical systems.
- Understanding of hydraulic, electro-hydraulic, and hybrid drive systems.
- ASE A/C Recovery Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, work in varying environments, and stand for extended periods.
- Experience working with fleet vehicles or agricultural equipment.
- CDL License or willingness to obtain.
- Primarily shop-based with occasional on-site repairs in the field.
- Exposure to loud noises, dirt, grease, heavy machinery, and varying temperatures.
- Requires lifting, bending, kneeling, and standing for long periods.
