About Aampere

Join Aampere, a seed-stage, VC-backed startup redefining the European market for used electric vehicles. Since our launch, we’ve enabled EV owners to sell their cars quickly and seamlessly within 48 hours, while giving dealers across Europe access to previously untapped customer segments.

Our team comes from the German startup ecosystem, with experience at Autarc, Greenforce, Cardino, Wemolo, Alasco, Porsche, Mercedes, and KPMG.

Your Mission

We're hiring Product Engineers - not ticket-executors. As Product Engineer, you own a piece of our product end-to-end: from spotting the problem, to defining what "good" looks like, to shipping the code, to owning the metric that tells you whether it worked.

Own outcomes, not tickets: You don't wait for a spec to land in your board. You dig into data, talk to Product and users, and help shape what gets built. If a ticket doesn't make sense, you say so before writing a single line of code. And when no one has written the spec, you write it yourself.

Full-stack execution: You build features end to end, frontend to backend, and you own how they behave in production. You ship fast, and you know when fast is the wrong trade-off.

Business fluency: Aampere buys and resells vehicles - we're not just a marketplace. Every feature you ship touches a margin, a conversion rate, or a dealer relationship somewhere. You use that understanding to help prioritize the roadmap, not just execute it.

Own your metric: You pick a slice of the product and own its KPIs, whether that's seller funnel conversion, dealer activation, or platform reliability. "Did it move the number" is part of the job, not an afterthought.

One team, both languages: You work shoulder-to-shoulder with Product, Design and the rest of engineering, not behind a ticket queue. You speak product and code fluently, so you can carry an idea from a conversation with Product all the way to something users feel, without it getting lost in a handoff.

Shape how we build: As our first Product Engineer, you help define what this role looks like at Aampere - and what we'll expect from every engineer who joins after you.

What you bring
  • Product thinking: You've shipped features you helped define, not just ones you were handed. You can turn a rough problem statement into a spec, a spec into code, and code into a measurable result.
  • Full-stack craft: You're confident across the stack - Next.js, React, Type Script, Tailwind on the frontend, Nest.js, PostgreSQL, REST APIs and Docker on the backend.
  • Business curiosity: You want to understand the "why" behind the roadmap, from unit economics to dealer relationships to funnel metrics, not just the "what".
  • Early-stage experience: You've worked in a small, high-ownership team before and know what "no safety net" feels like.
  • Data fluency: You're comfortable pulling your own numbers (e.g. via Post Hog, Metabase, or SQL) to validate whether what you built actually worked.
  • Ownership over tenure: Whether you're two years in or a seasoned senior, what matters is how you operate: end-to-end, low ego, high accountability. We're open on seniority for the right mindset.
  • AI-native development: You use AI tools to accelerate your own output, from prompting to validating and debugging AI-generated code.
  • Communication: You communicate clearly and directly in English, you're comfortable pushing back on a ticket, a spec, or a deadline when it doesn't hold up.

Nice to Have:

  • Marketplace/two-sided platforms: You've built for a business with sellers and buyers, supply and demand, or similar dynamics.
  • Mentoring & process: You enjoy raising the bar in code review and improving how the team works, not just what it ships.
  • German skills: You ideally also speak German.
Aampere isn't for you if...

...you want to work mostly remote. We believe the best ideas happen when people are in the same room. That is why you are in our office at least four days a week.

...you want to walk into ready-made processes and structures. A lot of that does not exist here yet. We are looking for people who build structures and processes, not people who administer them.

...you need a finished plan before you start. Seed stage means a lot…
