This is supervisory work responsible for overseeing recreational facilities and/or aquatic facilities and year-round aquatics programs. Work involves supervising facility operations, supervising personnel, planning, coordinating, and implementing programs, preparing budgets and reports, and assisting with the overall operation of the Parks and Recreation Department's recreation facilities.
Work is performed under the general direction of the Special Projects Administrator, Aquatic Manager, and/or Recreation Facilities Manager. Work is reviewed through periodic meetings, review of reports and for compliance with policies and procedures. Supervision may extend over employees assigned to recreation and/or aquatic facilities.

Responsibilities- Coordinates, assigns, trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates the work of assigned facilities part-time staff; makes recommendations for discipline; assists with the recruitment and selection of new staff.
- Assists in preparing and monitoring annual program budget; obtains quotes; prepares purchase requisitions, places orders and receives shipments.
- Maintains work schedules of staff to ensure safe supervision of all public areas within recreation facilities.
- Maintains accident/incident reports and maintenance issues; maintains accurate safety records including MSDS files and right to know information.
- Responds to patron questions, requests, concerns and complaints; resolves or refers problems; explains and enforces security policies.
- Performs Community Center Manager-On-Duty responsibilities; oversees front desk operations and money handling procedures; ensures patron safety; set‑up and disassembles rooms; supervises part‑time staff, coordinates with facility staff.
- Ensures compliance with departmental standards, City codes, OSHA and ADA guidelines; maintains accurate incident, injury and accident reports.
- Schedules and supervises recreation facility staff in supervisor's absence.
- Assists with maintaining standards to meet national Agency Accreditation requirements.
- Assists in developing and executing short‑term and long‑term goals and objectives for the Department.
- Assists in conducting first aid, CPR, lifeguard, water safety and rescue instructional sessions.
- Assists with monitoring and maintaining proper chemical water balance; monitors numerous chlorination and water filtration systems; coordinates, assigns and supervises daily cleaning of aquatic facilities; open and closes facility.
- Assists in planning and coordinating seasonal aquatic programming; develops and oversees swimming and aquatic classes and programs; writes program descriptions; enters data into program registration software; monitors registration and attendance of classes and programs; assesses feasibility and public interest; evaluates and recommends program revision or cancellation based on interest and attendance; submits reports on programs and activities.
- Work is performed in buildings, outdoors and in and around pools. Work includes the frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, climbing, reaching, kneeling, crouching, climbing, pulling, grasping, lifting, and carrying of heavy objects and hand‑eye coordination.
- Work includes occasional work in control quarters in the presence of operating electrical or mechanical equipment requiring adherence to safety standards.
- Work includes exposure to adverse weather conditions, chlorine and other water chemicals and fumes and bodily fluids.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Possession of a Bachelor's degree in recreation administration, sports management, adult learning or related field and 2‑3 years progressively responsible experience in aquatic/facility management or recreation programming; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, abilities and skills.
- Knowledge of the principles, practices and methods of public aquatic facility management, pool operation and recreation programming.
