• Build genuine connections with members, connecting them to staff, programs, and the YMCA mission and core values
• Conduct fitness assessments and personal training sessions to determine each client’s baseline abilities, needs, and physical condition
• Design safe, effective workout plans and coach proper form and breathing technique
• Maintain accurate client records and communicate with participants in a timely manner
• Ensure YMCA personal training policies are followed by both coworkers and clients
• Properly account for and process session payments and receipts
• Follow all safety and risk management protocols, reporting concerns to your supervisor
• Help promote the personal training program to members
• Keep training areas and equipment clean, organized, and properly maintained
• Stay knowledgeable about YMCA health and wellness programs and share that knowledge with members
• Attend staff meetings and follow/enforce dress code guidelines

• Personal Training Certification required
• Ability to motivate and inspire members toward health and wellness
• Comfort working with participants of all ages and fitness levels
• Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Organizational skills to track client progress over time
• Ability to stay calm and respond quickly in safety or emergency situations
• Comfort striking up conversations with new people and making everyone feel welcome
• Willingness to attend required training and meetings
• Must pass a criminal background check

Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including bending, stooping, reaching, squatting, running, and stretching, sometimes for extended periods.
