LOGAN-HOCKING SCHOOL DISTRICT VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
CLASSIFIED POSITION:
Floater Bus Driver - 5-day, 4.25 hours, FL-1
This position is in all aspects the same as regular route driver except they will not have a dedicated route each day and will rotate to vacant routes as needed. (This position may be temporary until regular routes are available.)
SHIFT TIMESA.M. Start Time 5:30 A.M.
A.M. End Time 7:45 A.M.
Total A.M. Time 2 hours 15 minutes
P.M. Start Time 2:00 P.M.
P.M. End Time 4:00 P.M.
Total P.M. Time 2 Hours 0 minutes
Total A.M. & P.M. Time - 4 Hrs. and 15 minutes (4.25 hrs.)
TITLE:
BUS DRIVER QUALIFICATIONS
- Be 21 years old with a minimum of two years driving experience
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred
- Be physically qualified (rule of the Administrative Code)
- Complete semi-annual driver record checks through the Ohio Department of Education for a minimum of six years
- School bus drivers with any of the following shall be disqualified from operating a school bus:
- More than six points in last two years
- A conviction of DUI or controlled substance DUI in last 10 years
- Two (or more) serious traffic violations defined in section 4506.1 during the past two years
- Any railroad crossing violation during the past year
- Holding school bus driver certification from O.D.E. and Logan-Hocking School District
- Completing pre-service and in-service training (rule )
- Physical capability to safely lift and manage preschool and special needs children when necessary
- Participation in drug and alcohol testing as mandated by the FMCSA; refusal disqualifies from operating a bus
- To maintain eligibility of insurance coverage of school district fleet insurance carrier
- Have good attendance
Transportation Supervisor
TIME SCHEDULEAs required by the route
Performance Responsibilities- Drive buses punctually on regularly scheduled routes
- Drive on approved non-routine/extracurricular trips as required
- Maintain a clean bus
- Inspect bus as required by Ohio Pupil Transportation Operation and Safety Rules and document on a form provided
- Report bus defects to mechanics on the work order form
- Obey all traffic laws
- Develop and enforce student seating chart
- Maintain and report all discipline incidents in an appropriate manner
- Assist as needed with handicapped students
- Promote positive public relations
- Operate buses only for approved school functions
- Report all accidents and complete all required reports
- Request service for vehicle at least two (2) days in advance of scheduled maintenance
- Transport only authorized students to and from Board approved bus stops and routes
- Fuel vehicle as required by operational regulations
- Maintain over a half tank of fuel when parking vehicle after route
- Perform student check and check bus condition following each route
- Perform any other duties and regulations requested and required to expedite the transportation program
- Other duties as assigned by Transportation Supervisor
