Logistics Professional

Amazon is seeking a logistics professional for our Amazon Web Services Team in the Columbus, OH area. Logistics Specialists monitor inventory levels to ensure that proper stock levels are maintained to support build and repair activities in our warehouse and data centers. They process inbound and outbound shipments, verify inventory, conduct cycle counts, manage an Inventory Management System and own chain-of-custody processes for Data Center Technicians and Engineers.

They will also be responsible for transporting parts between different locations operating sprinter vans, trucks, or various powered equipment (i.e forklift or electric pallet jack). Specialists should be comfortable and willing to regularly drive a variety of motorized vehicles, including box trucks up to 26' in length. Due to interstate operating authority commerce regulations, candidates must be at least 21 years or older.

Candidate must hold a valid state-appropriate driver's license, be able to obtain their Driver Qualification File (DQF) and or a Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Candidate must obtain & maintain a DOT Med Card and be eligible to drive in accordance with Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). This position involves frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling of materials and products. Logistics Specialists will be required to keep precise records of all commodities going in and out of company.

They must also maintain the cleanliness, organization, and safety of all work spaces. This future Amazonian must possess a strong work ethic, attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines, commitment to Operational Excellence, and adhere to strict safety standards. This position requires that the candidate selected be a US citizen and currently possess and maintain an active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.

Key job responsibilities:

  • Receive parts, maintain inventory, and check-out parts as needed to Data Center Technicians and Engineers
  • Load and unload shipments and transport parts, racks, and equipment between different locations, including localized driving of a variety of transportation vehicles
  • Attend company provided fork lift operator training
  • Complete company provided training in driving box trucks up to 26' in length
  • Handle sensitive/classified materials
  • Work with and/or around moving mechanical parts
  • Occasionally work is in an office environment
  • Work overtime as required

Perform the following tasks:

  • Lift loads of up to 40 pounds and carry them for short distances
  • Participate in group lifts of 41 pounds or more
  • Frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
  • Regularly walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Coordinate body movements when using tools or equipment
  • Reach and stretch to position equipment and fixtures while maintaining balance
  • Push or pull heavy objects into position
  • Work in a noisy environment
  • Stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods of time

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience as a logistics professional supporting inventory cycle counts, shipments, maintenance, stock control functions and reverse logistics

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years experience driving box trucks up to 26' in length and operating a forklift (or similar type of powered lifting equipment).
  • Experience using a computerized Inventory Management System (IMS)
  • Strong understanding of shipping & receiving, inventory and warehousing practices.
