Material Handler
The Inventory Clerk supports plant operations by ensuring accurate inventory control, material availability, and timely system transactions. This role is responsible for receiving, issuing, and tracking materials (including MRO/maintenance parts and operating supplies), maintaining inventory records in the ERP system, and supporting cycle counts, audits, and continuous improvement efforts. The Inventory Clerk works closely with Maintenance, Operations, Procurement, and Warehouse/Storeroom personnel to help ensure materials are available when needed and inventory accuracy is maintained.
Key Responsibilities- Receive, verify, label, and put away inventory items (MRO parts, consumables, production supplies, etc.) following site procedures.
- Perform inventory transactions in the ERP system (e.g., receipts, transfers, issues, returns, adjustments).
- Support accurate stocking and bin location control; maintain clean and organized storeroom areas (5S).
- Conduct cycle counts and assist with physical inventories; investigate variances and help identify root causes.
- Prepare and maintain documentation for receiving, issuing, and inventory adjustments; ensure compliance with internal controls.
- Coordinate with Maintenance/Operations to issue materials for work orders and operational needs.
- Assist with vendor deliveries, packing slip reconciliation, and discrepancy resolution (shortages, overages, damaged goods).
- Support inventory reporting (daily/weekly) and communicate stockouts, critical items, and reorder needs to appropriate stakeholders.
- Identify obsolete/slow-moving items and support disposition processes in alignment with company policy.
- Follow all site safety requirements, including PPE, safe lifting practices, and hazard communication procedures.
High school diploma or GED required.
1–3 years of experience in inventory, warehouse/storeroom, shipping/receiving, or plant/materials coordination preferred.
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office; ability to learn ERP/warehouse systems).Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and external vendors.
Experience using SAP (or similar ERP) for inventory/material transactions.
Experience in a manufacturing, chemical, industrial, or plant environment.
Forklift certification (or ability to obtain certification after hire).Familiarity with MRO storeroom operations and work order/material issue processes.
