Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Pharmacy Technician II, you will compound and dispense medications, maintain drug inventory, and accurately update patient records under the direct supervision of the pharmacist.

Responsibilities
  • Fill medication orders requested by physician or pharmacist, and deliver to patient care and other areas.
  • Prepare sterile products, chemotherapy and hazardous drugs, and parenteral products.
  • Dispense controlled substances with proper documentation; count discrepancies and report any suspected diversions to the pharmacist.
  • Ensure adequate stock of medications and supplies according to established policies and procedures.
  • Assist in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing pharmaceuticals and related supplies in the appropriate locations, rotating stock and replacing outdated and unusable drugs.
  • Pick up orders, requisitions, and medications for return from patient care areas when on delivery rounds.
  • Organize and prioritize work assignments; respond timely to urgent and routine requests.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED (required).
  • 3 months sterile product compounding experience (preferred).
  • 1 year of related pharmacy tech experience (required).
  • ASHP Sterile Preparation Institutional Training Certification or similar (preferred).
  • PTCB Certification (preferred).
  • State Board of Pharmacy Registration, as applicable by state (required).
