Production Manager
Summary
Under general guidance from the Operations and/or Production Manager, the Production Supervisor will effectively lead production teams to ensure safety, quality & productivity are maintained at the highest levels, while serving as a role model in the areas of leadership, teamwork, continuous improvement and safety. The Supervisor will employ lean manufacturing methodologies to maximize production throughput and minimize cost. This is a night shift position (5:30pm to 5:30am).
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Comply with Company Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Promote a "Safety First" culture in the workplace and ensure all machinery and safety devices and equipment are in operable condition.
- Supervise and lead team to meet goals and objectives of the business, and communicate plant performance measurements relevant to schedule conformance, machine downtime & scrap levels.
- Provide a safe environment through ensuring that proper housekeeping and organization is the culture that is promoted.
- Coordinate production personnel and plant activities to effectively attain the timely completion of plant production schedules as needed to meet customer orders.
- Assist with training employees regarding safety, quality and job-related functions.
- Maintain quality by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
- Ensure operation of equipment by calling for repairs, evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Provide manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting and analyzing production performance records and data; answer questions and respond to requests.
- Maintain effective intra/inter-departmental communications as required (team meetings, shift meetings, production meetings).
- Assist in post-accident investigations, including recording of event, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Conduct daily production review with manager at end of shift.
- Submit daily reports of quality issues and daily score cards.
- Conduct daily shift-to-shift pass down of information.
- Assign/maintain housekeeping throughout the department.
- Review production schedule for required WIP to meet schedule goals.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent of 3 - 5 years' experience in a functional role.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Manufacturing experience (automated/manual production lines).
- Lean manufacturing (5S, Kaizen).
- Continuous improvement experience.
- Demonstrated experience in process improvement utilizing lean manufacturing concepts.
Physical Requirements /Work Environment
- Works in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Continuously stands on concrete.
- Works frequently near moving vehicles.
- Sits and works at a computer.
- Periodically stoops, kneels, crouches, walks or crawls.
- Prolonged standing or in stationary position.
- Perform repetitive movements such as typing.
- Exposure to sounds or noise levels that may be uncomfortable.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision, shoes, hi-visibility and hardhat protection).
- Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to move or traverse about the facilities.
