Okeechobee SNF Operations, LLC - Join Our Culinary Team!

Okeechobee Healthcare Facility is seeking an experienced, dependable, and compassionate Cook to join our Dietary Services Department. As a Cook, you will play a vital role in preparing nutritious, appetizing meals that meet the dietary needs of our residents while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, safety, and sanitation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes, physician-prescribed therapeutic diets, and production schedules.

  • Ensure meals are prepared in accordance with state and federal regulations for long-term care facilities.

  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention standards.

  • Properly portion and present food for resident meal service.

  • Monitor food temperatures during preparation, holding, and service.

  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, workstations, and food preparation areas.

  • Assist with inventory management, food storage, and stock rotation using FIFO principles.

  • Receive and properly store food deliveries.

  • Work collaboratively with Dietary Aides and other team members to ensure timely meal service.

  • Report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns promptly.

  • Assist with special meals, holiday events, and resident-centered dining activities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager or Dietary Supervisor.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

  • Previous cooking experience in a healthcare facility, nursing home, hospital, school, or commercial kitchen preferred.

  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets and food safety regulations is preferred.

  • Ability to prepare meals for large groups while maintaining quality and consistency.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Reliable attendance and flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts.

* Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a Florida AHCA Level 2 background screening in accordance with state regulations.
