Overview
Job Summary:
Increases customer confidence and loyalty by providing accurate, fast and courteous customer checkout. This individual effectively packages customer purchases and expedites the flow of groceries from checkout lane to customer’s vehicle.
- Responsibility:
Assists customers in unloading purchases onto the conveyor belt at the checkout. Packs 40% of customer purchases in a manner to prevent damages, carry or push groceries in a shopping cart to the customer’s car and load groceries into the vehicle. Checks the price of merchandise in all departments, as needed. - 40% Time:
Returns discarded or returned merchandise. Restocks and uses supply items efficiently to eliminate waste and to maintain the lowest supply cost. Cleans spills, collects and picks up trash inside store and parking lot. - 30% Time:
Cleans all areas inside and outside of store. Performs basic shelf conditioning. - 20% Time:
Collects shopping carts from parking lot and other areas and returns them to the designated area. - Safety and Compliance:
Ensures company standards for safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation and productivity are maintained. Adheres to regulatory requirements pertaining to food safety, USDA & COOL, and DOA. Executes recalls, reinforces safety programs, inspects unsafe conditions, and reports incidents. Notifies management of accidents. Reports safety risks, illegal activity including robbery, theft or fraud. Ensures wage-and-hour compliance, promotes a culture of safety, and provides safety training.
Ensures hazardous assessments are posted and PPE is available and used. Ensures equipment is in good repair and assists with remediation of safety hazards.

Physical Demands:
While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand or walk on various types of flooring, utilize manual dexterity, talk, see, hear, smell and perform repetitive movements with both hands and/or both feet. The employee is frequently required to reach at waist level or overhead, carry, push, or lift up to weights listed. The employee is occasionally required to sit, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and climb up to 10 ft.
Working Conditions:
indoor, outdoor, cold, freezing, heated, and wet/humid conditions. Safety Risk Factors: twisting, slipping, working with hazardous equipment, exposure to sharp objects, loud noise, skin irritants, nuisance dust, fumes, sprays and other toxins. Overall, PPE and safety equipment may be required.
